Abstract
A folder and writing instrument in combination, wherein the writing instrument is hooked to a front cover or back cover of the folder via a through-hole located on one of said covers. Preferably, the through-hole is located on the back cover and the front cover does not completely overlie the back cover thereby exposing the edge opposite to the spine of the folder. A writing instrument attached to the through-hole in this exposed area can be freely accessed and does not interfere with opening or closing of the front cover.

Claims
What is claimed is:

1. A folder and writing instrument combination, said writing instrument including a longitudinal body and a clip, said clip having proximal and distal ends with said proximal end affixed to said writing instrument, said folder including a front cover with an inside portion and an outside portion and a back cover with an inside portion and an outside portion, said front cover and said back cover being joined at one side thereof so as to form a spine, said front and back covers having first and second edges adjacent said spine and a third edge opposite said spine, said combination comprising:

a through-hole located in said back cover adjacent said third edge, said through-hole adapted to receive said clip by a substantially perpendicular insertion of said distal end of said clip through said through-hole, said clip holding said writing instrument in place by clipping against said outside portion of said back cover to clamp said back cover against said longitudinal body of said writing instrument.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a folder. More precisely, the present invention relates to the combination of a folder and a writing instrument attached thereto.

2. Description of the Prior Art and Related Information

Quite often, people who attend business meetings or school remember to bring their note pad but sometimes forget a writing instrument. Therefore, many methods have been devised to connect one with the other. Many popular note pads or folders include a small pocket in the interior lining designed to carry a pen. In other prior art note pads, a spring loaded clip attached to the interior of one cover clamps down on a writing tablet and provides a small loop for carrying the writing instrument.

U.S. Pat. No. 5,011,188 to Zoland et al. discloses a pen and folder combination. The folder has a hole disposed through both the front and back covers in an aligned orientation. A clip typically found on a pen can thus be hooked into the hole to simultaneously secure the pen to the folder and to clasp the covers of the folder together.
